On July 22nd 2023, at 2:15am, Sarnia Police Service (SPS) responded to a 9-1-1 call for an intruder inside a residence on Earlscourt Drive in the city of Sarnia.
The 81-year-old male victim was asleep inside his home when suddenly awaked by the accused standing in his bedroom. The victim, who had difficulty understanding the accused’s demands, was violently attacked and sustained extensive and serious injuries from an edged weapon. His injuries included multiple lacerations to his head and hands (requiring 100 stitches), and a fractured skull. The victim’s wife heard the commotion within the home from another room and called police. The perpetrator fled the scene with property belonging to the victim.
