Complaints
We are committed to working with all members of our community. We strive to maintain positive interaction and communication with all members of the communities we serve. It is only by bringing your concerns to our attention that we can effectively address them.
If you have a complaint about the conduct of a police officer, or about the services or policies of the Police Service, you may choose to:
- Speak to the Officer in Charge of the station about it at 519-344-8861 on any day or time.
- Contact Professional Standards about it during regular business hours at 519-344-8861 x6181 or professionalstandards@police.sarnia.on.ca.
- Contact the Office of the Independent Police Review Director (O.I.P.R.D.)
Formal complaints can be filed with our Policing Standards office, the Office of the Independent Police Review Director (O.I.P.R.D.), or at any police station/detachment in Ontario. The O.I.P.R.D. is a police oversight body, staffed entirely by civilians and accountable to the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General. Decisions are independent from the government, police, and the community.
