Sarnia Police Investigating Theft of Historic School Bell

The Sarnia Police Service is investigating the theft of a historic item, which was displayed in the downtown core. The George Street School Bell was on display on the grounds of the Lochiel-Kiwanis Center at 180 College Avenue, North and is an important part of Sarnia's history.

The Sarnia Police Service is currently attempting to identify when the large metal bell was taken.  Anyone who has taken pictures or videos of the bell in the last couple of weeks is asked to contact Detective Constable Andrew Veale at (519)344-8861 x6231.  Residents in the area who may have witnessed individuals at the bell, who in hindsight may have been responsible for the theft are also asked to call.

Furthermore, scrap metal dealers in South-Western Ontario are asked to contact the Sarnia Police Service if any customer has attended, or attends, attempting to turn in the historic bell.
