Sarnia Man Arrested for Breaching Bail Conditions and an Arrest Warrant Issued for his Surety

On October 17^th, 2024, Brandon WATERS (38-years-old) of Sarnia was released from custody at the Ontario Court of Justice on a Judicial Release Order stemming from previous property crimes and failing to comply with a release order.  WATER’S was released to a surety; James Tyler STEELE (49-years-old) and was bound by the following release conditions:

• Reside with the surety
• Remain in the residence with the surety between 11pm and 6am

 Several hours after his release, a compliance check was conducted by the SPS Offender Management Task Force at the address provided STEELE.  Police discovered that WATER’S was not living at this address and STEELE had moved out in November 2023.  An arrest warrant was obtained for WATERS for Failing To Comply With a Release Order (two counts).

 On October 25^th 2024, police observed WATER’S and arrested him on the outstanding warrant. During the arrest, WATER’S attempted to flee on a bicycle and kicked a police vehicle door which struck one of the arresting officers.  WATERS was charged with Assaulting a Peace Officer and Resisting Arresting.  WATERS was held for a bail hearing and remains in-custody until his next court date is November 1^st 2024.
