Male Arrested After Stealing Vehicle
On January 4th, at 2:47 am the victim reported to the Sarnia Police Service that his vehicle had just been stolen from the parking lot of the Pat Stapleton Arena. It was later learned that the unlocked vehicle had been entered and the thief had accessed a spare key while rummaging through the glove box.
This information was broadcast to patrolling officers. Shortly afterward, an officer observed the stolen vehicle pulling into a Euphemia Street parking lot. As police approached the driver attempted to distance himself from the vehicle but was quickly arrested. A search incident to arrest resulted in the discovery of break-and-enter tools (bolt cutters), as well as a quantity of Fentanyl. At the time of his arrest, he was subject to a probation order.
Kayleb Traquair, 23 years of age is charged with the following offences:
- Theft of Motor Vehicle
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime - Over $5000
- Fail to Comply with a Probation Order
- Possession of Break In Instruments
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance
Traquair was held by the Sarnia Police Service for a bail hearing.
