The Sarnia Police Service offers non-criminal fingerprinting services for the following purposes:
- Employment
- Immigration
- US Waiver/ Visa
- Record Suspensions
THE BELOW PROCESSES DO NOT APPLY TO ANY INDIVIDUALS ATTENDING THE SARNIA POLICE SERVICE IN RESPONSE TO CHARGES.
Live-Scan Fingerprints – By Appointment Only
Live-Scan fingerprints
- An applicant’s fingerprints are scanned and sent electronically to the RCMP for processing
- The RCMP sends results to the applicant via Canada Post
- For information regarding the RCMP’s processing times, please refer to the RCMP electronic submissions webpage
- Applicants are asked to fill out the Sarnia Police Civil Fingerprint form in advance.
- Please call the Sarnia Police Service at 519-344-8861 ext. 5265 the morning of the day you are looking to book your fingerprint appointment. Digital Fingerprints are taken on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
- The fingerprinting process takes approximately 10 minutes
- NOTE: For employment with the federal government (Coast Guard, Canada Post, etc.), an ORI number is required
- The RCMP will send the results electronically to prospective employers instead of returning them to the applicant
- An ORI number consists of two alphanumeric characters (BX) and five numbers (12345)

Ink Fingerprints – By Appointment Only
- Certain agencies require an applicant submit ink fingerprints or
- Some individuals have difficulty with the Live-Scan process due to certain skin conditions
- An applicant’s fingerprints are taken using ink and sent to the RCMP for processing
- The RCMP sends results to the applicant via Canada Post
- A fee of $38.00 (cash or debit) will apply for every ink fingerprint application.
