Overnight Stabbing – Exmouth Street

Shortly after midnight on February 19, 2024 Sarnia Police responded to a reported stabbing in an Exmouth Street residence. Information was received from a male caller that he had just been stabbed.

SPS Patrol Officers responded and located the victim, a 37 year-old Sarnia resident. He was observed to have sustained at least two stab wounds to his back, and was transported to Bluewater Health Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Detectives from the SPS Criminal Investigations Division attended the scene and have taken ownership of this investigation.

SPS officers remained at the scene this morning to conduct further evidentiary searches. The scene has now been released.

Information at this time indicates that a group of young persons (ages 14-16) and one adult (18) were involved in the altercation with the victim inside his residence. The victim had asked the suspects to leave, initiating the altercation. All parties are known to each other.

The adult suspect has been identified and police are obtaining a warrant for his arrest on charges of:

  1. Aggravated Assault
  2. Assault With a Weapon

The other involved young persons have been identified and are not facing charges at this time. The victim remains in stable condition.
